
Justine Doswell
Resident in Dublin since 1997, Justine has worked with numerous notable Irish and international choreographers, directors, and companies, including Liz Roche Company (formerly Rex Levitates) / Jodi Melnick US; John Scott's Irish Modern Dance Theatre / Fabrice Dugied FR / Sean Curran US / Sara Rudner US; CoisCéim Dance Theatre; Ballet Boyz UK / Charles Linehan UK; Dance Theatre of Ireland / Les Carnet Bagouet, Dominique Bagouet FR; Charleroi Danse BE / Merce Cunningham USA / Paul Taylor Dance Company US / Karole Armitage US / Lucinda Childs US / Joachim Schlömer DE; The Abbey Theatre, Landmark Productions, Opera Ireland, amongst others.
Her choreographic work explores collaboration, dynamic systems, and embodied structure. Recent projects include Messier 45 (Dance Cork Firkin Crane, 2023), DYAD (Dublin Dance Festival and Dance Limerick, 2021/22), and Is there balm in Gilead? (2022/23), an award-winning short film created with Luca Truffarelli, which has screened at international film festivals.
Justine has contributed to theatre and opera productions for The Abbey, Northern Ireland Opera, The Olympia Theatre, Project Arts Centre, amongst others, and has taught extensively while leading a wide range of outreach projects. She was responsible for the junior section of Dublin Youth Dance Company from 2016 to 2022 and has been artist-in-residence in schools and community contexts nationwide.
She is a recipient of the Arts Council's Next Generation Award, a former Associate Artist with Irish Modern Dance Theatre (2021–23), Trapdoor Artist in Residence at UCD (2024), and currently Dublin City Council Culture Company’s Artist in Residence at Bluebell Community Centre.
