From local to global, COISCÉIM CINEMATHEQUE gives local residents and wider communities opportunities to discover and enjoy gems from one of the world's most diverse and accessible artforms in surprising and unexpected ways.

This spring, building on CoisCéim’s current collaboration with IMMA through the Broadreach project MOVING SIGNATURES, two films by David Bolger, DEEP END DANCE and BREAKIN' BROTHERS will feature on IMMA’s Living Canvas.

From 16–30 April, catch CoisCéim Cinematheque on one of Dublin's most extraordinary outdoor screens — bringing these award-winning short dance films to Europe's largest digital art screen, set within the historic grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

ABOUT LIVING CANVAS AT IMMA

Living Canvas at IMMA is a partnership between IMMA and IPUT Real Estate, Ireland’s leading property investment company and visionary supporter of the arts, that brings Europe’s largest digital art screen to the grounds of IMMA. The two-year programme presents contemporary art films and moving image works by Irish and international artists.

BREAKIN’ BROTHERS is the story of Cristian & Cosmo, two brothers who arrive in the Irish seaside town, Tramore, from the Dominican Republic in 2014. This energetic film describes their coming of age, where their award-winning break dancing skills are the key to gaining acceptance into contemporary Ireland. A hybrid drama /dance /documentary film that entrances from the first beat. Find out more

DEEP END DANCE

Written and choreographed by David Bolger. Directed by Conor Horgan. 

A fully dressed man is pushed into a swimming pool by his mother. He brushes himself off and starts dancing underwater, always aware that she’s watching. After a while she joins him, and they play out the story of their relationship through the underwater dance. Find out more
