Paul Shriek
Paul trained and graduated with a First Class Honours Degree from Newcastle Polytechnic in Fashion and Clothing technology. He established Paul Shriek ‘Limited Edition’ label in 1981 based in Newcastle. His first collection was for Top Shop UK and he launched his first independent shop on the iconic music programme The Tube. He has worked as fashion advisor on many television programmes and his name was synonymous with fashion and media in the 1980s. He has successfully designed and realised costumes for many dance companies including: Welsh National Opera, Diversions, Scottish Dance Theatre, the Ballet Boyz, Carte Blanche [Norway], Dodgy Clutch, Virtual Motion and Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Company. He has created a unique bond with balletLORENT and been involved in the creation and development of many of the company’s award winning productions since 2000. Other Companies include Seven Stories, The Centre for Children’s Books to realise characters from best selling children’s books credits including: The Gruffallo, Mog the Cat, A large selection of Roald Dahl personalities, and 101 Ways to dress up Costume Box. Paul has worked at all levels of education for the past 29 years promoting the value of The Arts and Design to help individuals realise their ‘Dreams‘. Working as Director/Colourist with Find Your Talent, Customs House South Shields, Paul created through educational workshops ‘Exhibits and Costumes’ for Steam Punk ‘A Fantastic Voyage’ for a major exhibition in Newcastle in July 2010. Other projects include Madame Silk Fred Debs Drapes Aerians La Baule and The Snow Queen with Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Company as Set and Costume designer for a co-production with An Grianan Theatre Ireland. He also worked on Blood, Sweat and Tears for balletLORENT.
