Lighting Designer
Lighting designer Ian Sommerville has worked in Opera, Theatre, and Dance as both a Lighting and Set Designer. His work as a scenographer was exhibited at the Prague Quadrennial International Design Exhibition where it received the Joint Gold MEdal as part of the British entry. His best known works are KING PRIAM for English National Opera/De Vlaamse Opera Ghent/Antwerp, MOSCOW STATIONS, London/New York, DIE KAISER VON ATLANTIS, British Premier. Other theatre work: POOR SUPERMAN, Traverse/Hampstead; ARIEL DORFMAN, British Premier; READER TOLSTOY, London West End; MR PUNTILA AND HIS MAN MATTI, Almeida. Other opera work: UN BALLO IN MASCHERA, Opera De Monte-Carlo; PEARL FISHERS, ENO British Premier; THE ASPERN PAPERS, London. He also set/lighting designed for The Norway Opera, ANDREA CHENIER and the British Premier of VURT, The Contact Theatre, Manchester. As a fine artist, his work was last seen as The Concorde Gallery, London.
