Gina Moxley
Gina Moxley is an Irish award-winning writer, actor and director.
Her first play Danti-Dan, presented by Rough Magic won the Stewart Parker Award in 1995. She has written plays for CoisCéim, Fishamble, National Connections and Pan Pan as well as many radio plays. The Patient Gloria, first presented at the Abbey Theatre for DTF 2018, at Edinburgh Fringe 2019 it won Fringe First and Herald Angel awards and had a hugely successful run at St Ann's Warehouse, NY in 2022. I Fall Down, made with Everyman Theatre for Cork Midsummer Festival 2023, was anchored by the Abbey Theatre and Once Off for an off-site presentation in Trinity for DTF 2025 and will tour in Autumn 2026. She wrote and performed Hex for Landmark's Theatre for One at Cork Midsummer Festival 2025. I Fall Down will tour to Cork, Limerick and Galway in Autumn 2026.
Outside of her own work, Gina recently appeared in The Walsh Sisters on RTE and BBC, the feature film West the Road, performed at the Abbey and Gate theatres and toured extensively with Rough Magic, Pan Pan, Tim Crouch and Dead Centre among others.
Gina directed award winning shows by Sonya Kelly - The Wheelchair on My Face and How to keep an Alien; Solpadeine is my Boyfriend by Stefanie Preissner; Spliced by Timmy Creed and My Magnetic North by Gary Coyle. Dramaturg for many emerging and established writers for theatre. Ongoing collaboration with artist Sean Lynch, including ADVENTURE:CAPITAL at Venice Biennale 2015.
Her writing has been described as irreverent, unapologetic and mischievous.
In 2020, she was elected to Aosdána, an affiliation of Irish artists that have produced a distinguished body of work.
