Cindy Cummings
Cindy Cummings is a free lance dance artist whose practice since 1986 has focused on collaborative works with artists around the world for live performance, installation and film.
Unifying her practice are several themes: the vulnerable and mutable place of the body within contemporary society; the centrality of play and humor as tools of creative interrogation; and a passion for scientific ideas, rigor and innovation.
From 2018-2023 she was movement director at Kcat Inclusive Arts Centre (Kilkenny) and choreographing for Kcat’s Equinox Theatre Company: The M House, The Water Boys, and POWER: We All Come From Somewhere (play and film). Her most recent collaborations include: The Arc of a Heart Shaped Curve, co-created with Steve Batts, Sighile Hennessy and composer Dave Boyd; Against The Waining Light, with filmmaker Paul Murnaghan and artist/freediver Nina McGowan; Radio Caroline & The Mi Amigo with performer/media artist/improviser Sebastian Adams for the Light Moves Festival 2025.
Cindy is a tutor on the Inclusive Dance Cork programme at Dance Cork Firkin Crane and curator of Open Floor, inclusive dance project with LUAIL (Ireland’s National Dance Company). Currently she is working with Asylum Productions on The Alice Project (2026 Kilkenny Arts Festival) and has previously worked with Asylum on: The Big Chapel X; Everything Must Go; The Local; and with Asylum director Donal Gallagher on What I (Don’t) Know About Autism, co-produced by Jody O’Neill and the Abbey Theatre (2020-21). Since 2007, Cindy has been a member of Aosdána.
