
Anastasia Valsamaki
Anastasia graduated with honors from the Greek National School of Dance-KSOT. In 2016 she attended the choreographic postgraduate program (I.C.E.) at the SEAD dance academy in Austria where she presented the work "Aether" for the New Faces New Dances Festival 2017 in Salzburg, the duet "Dimensions of a memory", as well as the dance performance "By the means of a Body" based on Nevin Aladag's work, "Five Stones Game", at the Salzburger Kunstverein.
She has performed for the Hellenic Dance Company, works by Martha Graham, Anton Lachky and has collaborated with the choreographers and artists: Millicent Hodson & Kenneth Archer, Anna Anousaki, Mina Ananiadou, Kyriaki Nasioula-Gesamt Atelier, Stella Fotiadi, Spyros Kouvaras, Katarzyna Debska & Jerzy Mączyński and with theater directors: Thanos Papakonstantinou and Themelis Glynatsis in collaboration with the Greek National Opera, Giannis Kakleas at the Pallas Theatre and George Koutlis for OXYGΟNO at Onassis Foundation.
Anastasia made her debut as a choreographer with the performance "Sync" in June 2016 and was selected by the Aerowaves network as one of the 20 emerging choreographers in Europe for 2017. She subsequently presented "Sync" at Spring Forward 17 in Denmark, as well as at the Athens & Epidaurus Festival. In 2018, she collaborated with the National Theatre as a movement director and choreographed the work "Body Monologue" for the Arc For Dance Festival. In 2020, she choreographed "DisJoint", as part of the 7th Young Choreographers Festival at Onassis Foundation and received the ARTWORKS award participating in the 3rd SNF Artist Fellowship Program. and was selected as an Aerowaves Twenty21 artist with her work "Body Monologue". Her work "W REST L ING" premiered in Athens in September 2021 and was touring Greece with the financial support of the Greek Ministry of Culture. Her most recent work "THE VERSO" was presented in June 2024 at the Athens & Epidaurus Festival.
She continues to be an active dancer and choreographer, while teaching dance, improvisation and choreography.</p>
