SHARED PERSPECTIVES

Masterclass for Dance Artists with Luca Truffarelli

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Led by long-time CoisCéim Dance Theatre collaborator and celebrated multi-disciplinary artist Luca Truffarelli in collaboration with dance artist Jessie Thompson, SHARED PERSPECTIVES is a focused professional development opportunity for dance artists working across all styles and practices.

Emerging from CoisCéim’s commitment to artist-centred practice, this in-studio workshop explores the poetic dialogue between movement and camera, inviting participants into a process of shared perception, embodied listening, and creative exchange. Working from video material, dancers will collaborate in pairs and small groups to develop movement in response to framing, distance, and perspective - with the camera positioned as an active creative partner, shaping how the body moves, relates, and composes space.

Through improvisation and collective exploration, participants will deepen their awareness of timing, proximity, and spatial composition, cultivating a responsive practice that emerges from subtle negotiation between bodies, gaze, and environment. The workshop centres curiosity, trust, and collaboration, creating space for diverse voices and experiences to inform the work.

Participants are invited to attend the outdoor performance at George’s Dock by Mufutau Yusuf in advance of the studio session. Commissioned in 2025 as part of CoisCéim’s BENCH Collection and filmed live by Luca Truffarelli, PROSES ON NEITHER HERE NOR THERE has since toured nationally and internationally. Yusuf was also selected as an Aerowaves #Twenty26 Artist with this work, to be presented at the prestigious Spring Forward Festival in Portugal this May. Find out more
