Studio presentation/discussion by Irina Pauls Wednesday 7 December at 7pm


Irina Pauls, Artistic Director of the Tantheater Freiburg-Heidelberg has been commissioned to make a new work for CoisCéim in 2006. In advance of this Irina is coming to Dublin to work with the company in December 2005. As part of her visit she will give a public studio presentation and will share her choreographic influences, inspirations and experiences. Deirdre Mulrooney, dance writer and journalist, will chair the discussion.

Irina Pauls Biography

Irina was born in Leipzig and studied dance at the Palucca Schule Dresden before studying choreography at the Theaterhochschule "Hans Otto" in Leipzig . In 1990, she took over as director of the newly formed Tanztheaters am Schauspiel Leipzig, for which she created 15 world premieres. Her guest choreographies have been staged by ensembles at other theatres, for example the Schauspiel Essen, the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar and the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel München. She was director of the TanzTheater in the Staatstheater Oldenburg 1998-99. Her work has also included freelance spells, creating work for performance outside of theatres, for example in the Grassi Museum and in the Glass Hall of the New Trade Fair in Leipzig.
