tUESDAYS:
Contemporary dance | Beginners | 6.15pm-7.30pm
Graham, Limon and Release techniques. Stretch your mind and body and learn floor, standing and travelling exercises. Enjoy practicing simple dance sequences that build strength, co-ordination and flexibility.
Led by Muirne Bloomer
Muirne Bloomer is from Dublin. Choreographic work includes: The Ballet Ruse (with Emma O’Kane); As You Are (CoisCéim); Dancing at Lughnasa (The Gate, An Grianan and the Bucharest National Theatre and Second Age); Dandy Dolls (Peacock); The Tempest, Drama at Inish, Cavalcaders and A Dolls House (Abbey Theatre); The Hand, Mixing it on the Mountain, The Star Child (Calypso); Wallflowering, Hue and Cry, Maisy Dalys Rainbow and Moment (Tall Tales); Can you catch a Mermaid (Pavilion); The Death of Harry Leon (Ouroboros); The Merchant of Venice (Second Age); Rock Rivals (UTV Television) Leon and the Place Between, Egg (Cahoots); and most recently The Lulu House (Siren Productions); and Little Women (The Gate). Muirne also choreographed the Special Olympics Opening Ceremony in Belfast in 2005. Together with David Bolger she choreographed A Dash of Colour (Special Olympics Croke Park 2004), Intimate Details and Golf Swing (Opening Ceremony Ryder Cup 2006) and The UEFA League Final (Aviva Stadium 2011). She has been the director of the City Fusion project for St Patricks Festival since 2007. Muirne recently performed her duet The Ballet Ruse in The Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2011 where it was nominated for a Total Theatre Award.

Discover pliés, points and pirouettes and take a step into the world of Ballet.
Led by Jeanette Keane
Jeanette is a former professional dancer from Toronto, Canada, She has danced with Opera Ireland, Cork City Ballet, Xing Dance Theatre, Danny Grossman Dance Company and for various choreographers in Ireland and Canada. She has also choreographed for numerous productions in Toronto including: Muses, and Before, During, and After (an annual festival of duets).
Jazz dance | All Levels | 7.45pm - 9.00pm
Hit the beat with this lively and energetic class. Have a go at some fast paced combinations and discover a syncopated and sassy jazz dance style.
Led by Gill Grueber
Gill graduated from the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts, London in 1997 with a diploma in Musical Theatre and Associates in ballet, Jazz and Tap. As a dancer she has worked extensively in shows such as Saturday Night Fever, and Lion King and in films such as Alexander the Great, and Beyond the Sea. She has also worked as a dancer in TV commercials, corporate events, on cruises and in pantomime. Gill has been teaching and choreographing throughout Dublin for the past three years and would like to welcome you to her class to enjoy dance as much as she does!
THURSDAYS:
Contemporary dance | Intermediate | 6.15pm - 7.40pm (1hr 25mins)
Increase your technical ability and learn more complex contemporary dance phrases. Develop understanding of use of the breath and working from the centre of the body. Find out about different styles of contemporary dance.
Led by Lisa McLoughlin
Lisa trained at the Rambert School, London. On graduation she joined Daghdha Dance Company under the direction of Mary Nunan and later under the direction of Yoshiko Chuma. She has been a regular dancer with CoisCéim performing in Faun and As You Are, The Nutcracker and Ballads among others. A founding member of Rex Levitates Dance Company, she has performed with them extensively over the past 10 years, most notably alongside the National Ballet of China in Beijing.
She has also been a regular dancer with many companies including Ciotóg, Catapult, New Balance Dance Company, Marguerite Donlon and Dancers, and Opera Ireland. One of her choreographies, Tender Hooks of Honesty, was awarded the Jane Snow Award at the 2003 Dublin Fringe Festival. Her recent work includes Fourtold, Project Arts Centre 2011, and for summer 2012 Below the Tide, The Sanctuary, Dublin.
Ballet | Intermediate | 7.45pm - 9.00pm
Challenge your body, refine your technique and extend your classical vocabulary.
Led by Stephen Brennan & Kilian O’Callaghan
Stephen started dance training at the Elliott-Clarke School in Liverpool, underwent further training at Bush Davies Schools in East Grinstead, Sussex, before graduating from Central School of Ballet, London.
His performing career has spanned some twenty-five years, dancing with many of Europe’s ballet companies including London Ballet Theatre, Malmö Stadsteater Balett (Sweden), The National Norwegian Ballet and The Scottish Ballet.
Stephen joined Ballet Ireland in 1999 and since his appointment as Education Officer a year later has developed the company’s extensive outreach programme. He has choreographed two short works for Ballet Ireland, Figaro, Factotem (2003) and School for Lovers (2004), and twenty works for performance by children and young adults.
In addition to his work with Ballet Ireland, Stephen fulfils regular teaching commitments as advisor on men’s training to the College of Dance, Monkstown, and frequently teaches the professional ballet class at Dance Ireland. He has collaborated several times with productions for Irish National Youth Ballet.
Born in Cork, Kilian trained at Audley School of Dance and Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance before moving to Royal Ballet School in London. He then progressed to The Scottish Ballet where he toured UK, Europe, Hong Kong, and Perth Western Australia, and the Spoleto Festival in Charleston South Carolina. He returned to Perth to join the West Australian Ballet as Soloist Dancer, touring extensively in Western Australia and Northern Territory. He joined Royal New Zealand Ballet as Soloist and was promoted to Principal Dancer. While there, he led the company in tours of New Zealand and Australia, USA and Europe. He also danced lead roles in works by George Balanchine, Jack Carter, John Cranko, Robert North, Garth Welch, and Gray Veredon. Kilian was fulltime tutor at the New Zealand School of Dance for several years, and has freelanced as tutor, choreographer and judge in New Zealand, Australia, UK, and Ireland. On his return to Ireland in 2008, he has been working with Irish National Youth Ballet as tutor and choreographer.
Which dance class is best for me?
Beginners - for anyone who has: less than 1 year’s dance training, attended classes part-time or had a break from dance training for several years.
Intermediate - for anyone who has two years practical experience in another dance form.
These definitions are a guide and are not definitive.
If you would like to change levels please ask for advice from the class teacher.
